Jerry Hsu is a simple man. His skating on the other hand is some of the most creative and progressive to ever be witnessed. Jerry over the past eight years has amazed the skateboard world with numerous video parts and amazing photos in magazines. In 2007, he took home numerous honors from the Transworld Awards including the almighty Readers Choice Award and Video Part of the Year. CCS took some time to catch up with their new team rider to discuss the past and future of the new Emerican Jerry Hsu!!!

You have been sponsored for quite some time. How long did you ride for Maple and how old were you when you first got on the team?

I was 15 when I got on and about 17 when I left.

If you were given a choice of one old teammate from Maple who currently does not ride for Enjoi to be on the team who would it be and why?

How about Jason Carney? We never spoke.

In your 1997 411 Wheels of Fortune, whose idea was it to have the school classroom intro and what other skaters were in that opening sequence?

It was Anthony Claravall's idea I think. Other skaters there were Marc Johnson, Joey Suriel, and Genaro Vergoglini.

You've had video parts for Maple, Osiris, Tiltmode and Enjoi. What video part was your favorite to make and to be a part of?

They were all enjoyable to be a part of. They are all a blur.

In the Osiris video, Subject to Change, you shared a part with your good friend Louie Barletta. Whose choice was that and who out of the two of you chose the New Order song for the part?

I mentioned the shared part with Louie and he was down for it immediately. We had been skating a lot together at the time so it made sense and I'm pretty sure I chose the song. It was sort of a no-brainer when I thought about our part.

Did you get to see your old friend and past teammate Chad Knight on American Gladiators, and would you consider Chad to be a Gladiator?

I had heard about it a while ago and just got to see it recently. He was on American Gladiators! Better him than Dave Coyne.

A lot of kids reading this may not know who Dave Coyne is. Can you give them a good Dave Coyne story or fact?

The fact of the matter is I loved to hug Dave Coyne. Very huggable.

We recently interviewed Cairo Foster and he mentioned that there is going to be a new Tiltmode Video. Will there be an Asian Elvis appearance in the new video?

I'm sure I'll be in the background every once and awhile.

Your first shoe has just dropped on Emerica. Congrats! What is the difference between the Emerica shoe and your last Osiris pro model?

I think they're pretty similar style shoes. I guess the main difference is that the Emerica shoe represents my new start at Emerica which I value a lot.

What's in store for Jerry Hsu for the rest of 2008?

I'll probably have to see a dentist this year.
