Name and Occupation?
Corey Duffel, "The Duffman". Skateboarder. Riding the shred sled around.

Who are your sponsors?
Foundation Skateboards, Osiris, Split, Hooven, Venture, CCS, Ammon Watches, Mob Grip.

How old were you when you first got hooked up? And for what companies?
I was 13 yrs old. It was for Venture trucks and Think skateboards. Greg Carroll saw me at a contest and hit me up about riding for those companies. So I sent him a little video and then I got on the team. My first trip with them was three weeks later with Phil Shao (RIP), Dan Drehobl, Wade Spyer and Tim McKinney. We went to the Visalia Skate Camp. It was good times for a 13 year old kid.

Was Colt Cannon on the team back then with you?
Actually, I got Colt on the team. So Colt and I were buddies way back then we both skated CASL contests together. Colt really didn't know anybody on the team but looked up to everyone. So he gave me his sponsor me tape and I passed it on to the team manager. Next thing you know, Colt was on the team.

Did you ever have a video part while you were on Think?
Yeah, it was a video called 'Dedication'. It came out in 1998 right after Phil passed away. It was dedicated to him. Check You Tube it might be on there.

What happened after your time at Think?
I was 15 at the time I was a freshman in high school and I started to change my personal style. I really got into the rock-and-roll thing. Think was heading in another direction and I just wasn't feeling it. So I ended up talking to Andrew Reynolds about getting on Baker, which was starting at the time. He started flowing me boards but that didn't work out either. Then finally Foundation came to the rescue and the rest is history. Thanks Josh!

What keeps you motivated to skate the way that you do?
Kids! The kids always want to see bigger and better man! I just have fun with the progression of skating and where it's going. I love to push myself forward and never back.

Do you think skateboarding is a sport or an art form?
Well it's a sport because were all athletes but it's definitely not a team sport that's for sure. We do things our way and there are no rules in skateboarding, which is the best thing. Just go out and shred.

Tell the kids on the CCS site your top 5 bands right now?
Rocky Erickson, The Jam, The Replacements, The Heart Attacks, The Cure

You have recently become a favorite of the guys from the Lakai camp. How did you link up with them?
That's all due to my good buddy "Cairo Foster". He is the best dude ever! I met Cairo when I was a kid and we have been skating a lot together lately. We like to skate a lot of the same stuff ya know. So he told me that Ty Evans and the Lakai team was coming up to film for 'Fully Flared'. So the day they came up I just jumped in the van with legends like Mike Carroll, Guy Mariano and Rick Howard. We went to the airport to pick up Eric Koston. When we pulled up and the door opened the look on his face was priceless when he saw me. Like what is this guy doing here? I had never been so motivated to skate before in my life when I was around these guys. I even beat Mike Carroll in a game of skate. I am glad to call all of them my friends now!

Now that you're on Osiris how is that working out for you?
Definitely psyched!! A year and a half without a shoe sponsor was a bummer for sure. So I am really happy about what I have now with Osiris. I have two pro models coming out soon. One is a vulcanized sole and the other is a cup sole. They should be out in the next 6 months or so. I wish they could come out sooner but it takes time to make shoes. I love the samples so far and there will be a Foundation collaboration slip out soon to.

You've had a busy year so far. A Thrasher interview and King of the Road. Do you have any predictions for the King of the Road contest this year?
I think Foundation is going to win. I think we really have a solid chance to take home the title. We have Sierra Fellers and I think that he's going to be the MVP. The guy is a straight nut on a skateboard. Black Label is going to be nuts too. Chet is insane. Zoo York's got Brandon Westgate and Zered Bassett. Zered is going to kill it! On Blind, you've got Creager and Ducombe so you have to watch out for them. It's going to be rugged but I do think we have the team to handle this. We're bringing the young guns that are hungry for the Foundation squad. No Zero team this year and thank god for that!

Tell us about the video you're making with your friends?
The video is going to be called 'Modern Kicks' and it's going to be me and my friends. It's going to feature two unknown dudes, Chris Larue and Skylar. It's also going to have a bunch of sick well known dudes like Slash, Ritchie Belton, Abdias Rivera, David Reyes, Jeremy Reeves, The Nuge and Dyson Ramones. It should be done in late October.

You really wanted to be on the CCS team. Tell us what CCS means to you from being a kid getting the catalog to now joining the team?
First of all it's been around forever. I use to buy boards from CCS as a kid because CCS was the only place that carried 8.5 decks. Foundation Josh Beagle and Toy Machine Fist's decks were my all time favorites and CCS had them all the time. Hands down CCS has the best team in skateboarding. I am down for everyone on CCS and the CCS gear is some of the best I have seen. Just look at my cover. I am down for their gear!

Any Last Words?
As corny as it sounds "Just Have Fun". That's how it's always been. It's why you started skating in the first place. Getting sponsored isn't for everyone and it shouldn't be the reason you skate. Just Cruise.
